“…You could see how much they love what they do and you felt it in your chest when they performed.” – Gabriela

On the date of March 4th 2016, three artists performed at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly, Rhode Island.  Ceschi, B. Dolan, and Sage Francis boldly demonstrated awe-inspiring finesse with songwriting.  These three musicians present story-telling music and verse to the Hip-Hop world as we know it today- with some truly dynamic and heavy subject matter in the compositions/freestyles.

“…This is sure as hell no anxiety sort of music, there’s too much truth.” – T

Indeed, it can be said with certainty through first hand accounts and those on the internet, the rich work of these gentlemen move mass audiences of all ages.  Verse, written in all sorts of layers and themes (activism, passions, romances, the most personal relationships, uncomfortable truths, malevolence, political awareness, comic relief and the list continues…) can be discovered in the works of these guys.  Whatever the listener happens to behold, it is certainly something else, distinguishable in the sense that it is raw and fearless.  Kind of blows your mind when you realize something once listening closely- seems like being unafraid can hold hands with grace when you’re looking to spread awareness, and that’s power.

Founder of Strange Famous Records (1996) headlined the show that evening some weeks ago and certainly left members of the audience spellbound after his performance.  Not only does Sage Francis bring chapters of his human experience, (particularly some of the most life changing ones) he offers wisdom from his endeavors.  The messages this humble artist spent decades writing are full of emotion(none of that plastic stuff we sometimes run into), and serve as part of the solution to our world today.  There is certainly love for his community as well as the animals he takes great care for.

Truth is, as previously mentioned, it depends on your cup of tea and how you like it when concerning music.  Watching three very talented rappers with good friends of mine was a beautiful and enlightening experience worth humming about- if I’m to allude to a favorite song.  Without a doubt, I’d recommend these artists to anyone.  I’ve been listening to B. Dolan and Sage Francis for years now, and they have inspired myself personally not to be afraid of speaking and writing honest language.  I extend a huge thank you to all three of you guys, thank you so much for coming to Westerly, thank you for amazing music and poetry, and thank you for the warm smiles and hugs (yes, hugs).  Much appreciation from us out here by the sea.
