Hey you! Long time no talk. If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent too much time during the last few months cooped up inside hiding from the wet, cold weather. It’s time to get out! Grab your spouse, your significant other, the person you like to go out on dates with and spend a night on the town. If you’ve had a long week, you need to take some time to unwind, de-stress, enjoy the company of others and eat some delicious food. I’ll make a few suggestions for where to eat, drink, dance, etc. Don’t worry, you’ll be partying in no time! This is a rough itinerary that you can tailor to your needs and desires.

Let’s assume it’s a Friday night and you’re off work around 4 or 4:30pm…who doesn’t like to be happy?  Our first stop will be at one of Westerly’s most popular watering holes.

4:30pm — Malted Barley – Couple the popular spot’s three levels, two bars, an outdoor patio area, a projection screen for movies and foosball with the extensive beer list and you’ve got yourself a slammin’ good time. Make sure you enjoy one of their housemade pretzels as well. You really could stay here all night – there’s often music on the weekends and the pretzel sandwiches and beer sure do fill a belly up but let’s just stay for a drink or two and a pretzel appetizer.

6pm — Ella’s Fine Food & Drink – You might spot Taylor Swift and Lorde taking a cooking lesson or you might not, but either way, Ella’s serves a mighty fine meal. With a solid menu ranging and daily specials, there’s really something for vegetarians, omnivores and carnivores alike. My personal recommendations include the bleu beet & greens salad, the miso salmon and the French Connection cocktail. Chef Jeanie Roland beat Bobby Flay so I’m pretty certain you won’t be disappointed.

7:30pm — If you’re in the mood an after dinner drink, I’d head to Perks and Corks for a specialty martini, otherwise, mosey on down to the Knickerbocker Music Center, formerly the Knickerbocker Cafe, for some great live music. They know how to book good artists and bring in a great crowd.

9:30pm — Trattoria Longo Meatballs & Martinis – Hopefully you have room for dessert because you won’t be disappointed. Their dessert menu changes but often includes the usual suspects: cannoli, creme brulee, etc. They also have amazing cocktails and a fabulous wine/beer list if you’re still thirsty. You won’t be disappointed, promise.

At this point in the night, you might be ready to head home…or maybe you’re just getting started with your night! Who knows, but I won’t stop you. But I will say this: be safe…get an Uber or hand over the keys to another if you stay out drinking too late.
Cheers!
