As the candle light flickers you feel those loving eyes staring at you in adoration, waiting with hot breath for your next move. No matter what you do or where you go the love and devotion is always there. And that’s just the love from your dog! There is hope yet to find a human that adores you as much as your canine does this Valentines!

Whether you are coupled doing the long-term thing or swinging it single style check out a few places and ideas to make Valentines 2019 in Westerly one to remember.

Kick start the night with a few games of pinball at Flip Side, Westerly’s first and only pinball bar. With their new expanded space, there is more room to spread out while enjoying their craft beers or cider, and vintage pinball machines. Great place to start or end your evening with a signature cocktail with a date or friends.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as the saying goes. And what better way to behold than staring at art together at The Artists Cooperative Gallery. Tell your Valentine to “meet you at the station,” which just happens to be the featured show in February at the Gallery along with a visiting artist group, called The Westerly Weavers. To get a preview, come experience the art and craft of weaving on Feb 10th with a hands-on demonstration weaving and workshop.

What better combo than desert and drinks for Valentines! Save yourself buying her that drugstore box of chocolate and end the night on a sweet note at Tapped Apple Winery and Cidery where they are pairing three chocolate truffles from Hauser Chocolatier with three of their featured wines in a flight. Local musician Craig Osborn performs starting at 8 p.m. And it’s a sweet deal because the truffles are free when the guest buys the flight.

After dinner head over to the Knickerbocker Café for a valentines serenade with Daphne Lee Martin performing her own original material in The Tap Room. The show starts at 8 pm and is free for 21+.

Looking to impress that special someone? Fancy it up at The Weekapaug Inn with a romantic evening of food crafted by their culinary team and wine pairings. For a more coastal setting, the Ocean House is also hosting a Valentine’s Dinner in their Coast restaurant featuring seasonally inspired dishes set to the backdrop of harpist Faith Letner. Call for reservations.

Take out to make out: Visit your favorite Westerly restaurant for takeout whether it’s a pizza pie, Thai, Indian, a burger, or Chinese, paired with a little champagne, light the fireplace and let the romance commence.

Doing the single thing? Hey, that’s cool: Being single is the new couple these days! Invite some friends over and have everyone bring their favorite dish, or pick a food theme. Swap funny dating stories, play Cards Against Humanity and laugh it up with your favorite romantic comedy.

And just remember no matter what your dog will always be your Valentine!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
