It’s always a good time to be thinking about your health and how you can stay active during the cold winter months. Westerly has several different fitness options downtown alone, from CrossFit to martial arts and yoga, but the latest and most exclusive studio in town is known as the Leanify Method and it’s tailored just to women’s needs.

The studio had a soft opening at the end of April and when asked why the focus on women, co-owner and one of the studio’s two trainers Matt Chilleri spoke about the emotional impact of helping women change their lives through better health and fitness being “more fulfilling than helping some dude get jacked.”

Additionally, they believe they can guide women towards exactly what they want and target everything towards their goals, while also providing a more comfortable, less intimidating atmosphere for them to work out in.

With so many different methods and studios to choose from, Matt and his co-owner Aaron Meredith believe that Leanify Method stands apart from the crowd because they offer a data-driven, technologically optimized fat loss program which tracks their client’s goals by measuring their caloric expenditure and caloric and macro-nutrient intake.

“Nutrition is just as big a piece of the pie, if not bigger,” explained Matt, and they offer customized nutrition plans because every women is unique and requires different things in order to succeed. The two also believe in making their fitness experience a collaborative effort between client and trainer, so that every woman in the studio will feel that they have someone besides herself holding them accountable and going every step of the journey with them.

Matt and Aaron have been running other fitness studios for the last six or seven years and are currently the only trainers on staff, but they have big plans for the future and plan to bring on other trainers as this flagship studio expands.

This is a new concept and new methodology that they’ve been perfecting for years, Matt said, and they hope to build their reputation and eventually bring their expertise to other towns in Rhode Island, like East Greenwich. They chose Westerly as a starting point because it’s equally distant for both Matt and Aaron, and because the demographics of the area fit their model.

Although the town’s population tends to fluctuate dramatically during the summer tourist season and taper off afterward, Matt is not concerned that this change will affect their business. Rather than recruiting loads of short-term clients looking for the latest flavor of the week in fitness, they’re aiming for a limited number of members who are interested in long-term commitment to the gym and to the lifestyle changes that the studio stands for.

To be blunt, they won’t work with just anyone and require a meeting with anyone interested in becoming a member to make sure that your goals align with their expectations. “Real results require commitment, and you have to be really, intrinsically motivated. We can’t want this for you more than you want it for yourself,” Matt stated, adding that nothing they do is meant for people who want a quick fix or a gimmick.

If you’re interested in becoming a part of the Leanify Method, now is a great time to look into it. Memberships (which will eventually be limited to only 100 women) are still available and as the duo establish their presence downtown, they’re offering customized fat loss plans for free to the first 50 women who sign up on their website. “We want to show women that we can help them by actually helping them,” Matt said.
