If you’re anything like me, you like to enjoy adult beverages from the comfort of a couch. But until recently, I didn’t know where to find that sort of environment outside my own living room. That is, until a few days ago when I met up with some of my girlfriends and their significant others.

I walked in the door and was immediately met with numerous sights, sounds and scents. To my right, a band was playing classic rock in by the front windows. Straight ahead, bartenders were bustling around pouring drinks as customers were elbow-to-elbow, sipping drinks and chatting with friends. I caught a glimpse of my friends to my left and headed that way. After surveying the various seating options, I realized that they snagged one of the best spots: a couch and some comfy chairs tucked into a cozy nook.

I walked back up to the bar to grab and menu and decide what to order. The menu was quite extensive. More than six pages of beers, wines, their signature martinis and cocktails and liquors. I decided on a cucumber martini.

While ordering my drink, I asked what food was cooking that smelled so delicious. The friendly bartender explained that they have 12 different kinds of grilled cheese on the menu, all named for famous musicians – no wonder it smelled so delicious. I decided on the Vaughn: cheddar, turkey, bacon, avocado on multigrain bread.

Once I had the cucumber martini in hand, I explored the place a bit. I wandered toward the back of the space and found more couches and cozy nooks. I decided Perks and Corks is the perfect place for a first or 50th date or for a ladies night out like we were enjoying. A few people were dressed up but most were pretty casual. It seemed like the kind of place where you wear a dress and stilettos or a pair of skinny jeans and a black v-neck.

As I wandered back to my friends, I noticed a large mural of all the famous musicians (David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, etc) the sandwiches are named after above the area where the band played. It was almost like they were watching over the bands that performed there – it made me smile.

By the time I was back to my friends, my grilled cheese had arrived. It was perfect: crunchy on the outside and ooey-gooey cheesy on the inside. Absolutely delicious. We finished our first drinks, got a round of prosecco and chatted for another hour or so. The place was pretty packed by the time we finished our second round of drinks so we decided to call it a night.

As I walked out the door, I vowed to bring my boyfriend back there someday. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up on a couch, sip fancy martinis and eat fancy grilled cheese? I’m in!
