As we navigate the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, more information is coming out every day.  We have a responsibility at the individual level to honor and respect the guidelines that are being enacted at the federal level.

Governor Raimondo ordered ALL restaurants in Rhode Island to suspend dine-in service starting today – March 17, 2020 – with many offering take-out and curbside pickup.  Gatherings of 25 people or more should be avoided and the elderly should limit their gatherings to 10 or less.  These measures, with the exception of the restaurant suspension are voluntary.  That is how we do things in the United States.  We do not want the federal government to step in and order a quarantine.

We need to practice social distancing, avoid physical contact and understand that this is a real threat to life as we know it.  No, I am not blowing this out of proportion, this is real.  People who know me, know that I am level-headed and I don’t take extreme actions unless extreme actions are necessary.

Every generation needs to take this seriously because, as we are learning, a carrier can still pass on the virus WITHOUT showing any symptoms.  We all need to do our part to get through this.  This is not a time to be selfish or self-entitled.

Only go out if it is necessary, do not hoard items, use proper coughing and sneezing etiquette, and most importantly be rational.
