It’s the best time of the day. You get out of work, meet up with a few friends and grab couple drinks before heading home. Many call it the happiest hours but it’s not quite so happy if you don’t know where the best specials are.
The origin of the term “happy hour” dates back to 1914, when it referred to a weekly entertainment program with live music, movies, dancing and boxing matches for Navy sailors. It was meant to help with the boredom associated with life at sea.
It wasn’t until Prohibition that the “happy hour” referred to drinking. In the 1960s, it became a tradition for restaurants to offer food and drink specials that continue today.
